This friend came from Singapore to Switzerland

Standard

So this is my first friend to have flown all the way from Singapore to Switzerland just to visit me :P Here we have, Irene Tan my ex-coursemate from polytechnic who is now flying happily everywhere in the world with the airlines I’m.. well.. pretty proud of, afterall it’s my country’s national airline.

I really appreciated how she took a 2-3 hours train ride all the way from Zurich upon landing, to Lausanne, made her own way to EHL. All of a sudden, during class, receiving a whatsapp message ‘I’m in your school now!’ sure gave me a surprise!

Bon Vendredi et Samedi

Standard

Ice-cream with Sabrina, while we watched Shihua work at the ice cream bar. I found it adorable how I watched Sabrina ate her lunch – handmade noodles in a quiet food court at Roxy Square and listened to her getting all excited for me going to Swiss and being jittery as she waits for that e-mail. Wishing her all the best!

Meeting up with Trish, Lya and Edeline for dinner, my favourite awesome J.Co yoghurt to end off the night at Tampines. The girls felt like we needed to meet up again this upcoming week because the meet up didn’t feel like an actual farewell yet. We’ll meet up this week again then!

Brunch with Bestie V at Room With A View. Heard a lot about it, read the good reviews and we finally got ourselves settled down in the cafe/gallery to fill up the empty stomach of mine and half-filled stomach of Bestie V.

Room With A View: Cafe – Gallery
17 Carpenter Street, Level 5

Trishila’s Adventure at Universal Studios Singapore

Standard

Almost a few weeks ago, we decided to set a date for our adventure to Universal Studios Singapore. Planned to happen on 4 May 2011, Wednesday and it did!

We went as early as 9.30am because ticket office was opened at 9am, we waited for a while till it was 5 minutes before 10 and the park rangers decided to be nice and let us in!

Unfortunately the Universal globe went missing! We had to make do with the make-shift cardboard which featured it.

Picnic [at] Marina Barrage

Standard

We’ve been through the sunny days together.
We’ve been through the cloudy days together too.
We’ve been through the rainy days together as well.

The bunch of friends – not afraid of revealing their innermost emotions, being straightforward to one another and natural on their own is what they are most probably best at and would like to be. A moment of happiness and laughter, the next moment of anger angst and impatience is what makes up a day of theirs together.

Just yesterday, we went to the Marina Barrage for a kite-flying/ picnic session… That’s it, a day of March 29, 2011 just flew past.

Nearly a month ago, senior Calvin. N and myself arranged for a foodiefreak date. He got to know about the 2nd edition of Restaurant Week in Singapore which was back from the 21st-27th March 2011. We enjoyed a 3-course lunch for a set low of around $25++ at Capella Singapore – The Knolls just this afternoon!

Seems like certain corners of Sentosa really don’t seem that accessible afterall, unfortunately. We had to walk quite a fair bit before we reached Capella Singapore, felt like I was walking up slopes back in Seychelles though. It was nice to be welcomed by the heritage building of Capella Singapore nonetheless, greeted by polite guest relations officers and escorted to The Knolls.

It was my first time at Capella Singapore, though having heard of its much well-known reputation and name because they say their suites are superb? Haven’t had the chance to have a look at them though unfortunately, I hope I get to see them some time in my life.

Oomphatico’s

Standard

Oomphatico’s
Tanglin Mall

Mushroom Soup.
Duck Leg Confit Risotto.
Seared five-spiced Duck Breast with hash cake, tempura spinach.

Great ambience, away from the bustling Orchard Road, not a crowded restaurant during dinner time, seems like they are able to hold mini birthday events as seen today. Thumbs-up, love the food, the eclectic mix of slightly girly decor and not too bad for the service! Mixed reviews everywhere but for my personal experience, it isn’t that bad!

Riders Cafe Date

Standard

>Riders Cafe, the very much mentioned as one of the brunch places!

This restaurant in a hideout at Bukit Timah is barely accessible if without car or taxi, could try walking which we did when we finished our meal, but who would want to be stinking in their own perspiration while supposedly relaxing and dining at Riders restaurant, hoping to catch a glimpse of galloping horses and their caring owners?

Dishes we decided to give it a try! All 3 of us chose different dishes so we could taste a little bit of each.

‘The Usual’ consisting of Scrambled/Poached eggs, bacon, sausage, roasted tomatoes and vegetables and sour dough.

Roasted Portobello club

Riders’ Burger

A date with #1 since at least half a year ago!

#1′s boyfriend whom I’ve not met in years ever since they got together 3 years ago.

Riders’ not bad a place for brunch! I wouldn’t say that it’s absolutely fantastic but trying it once wouldn’t hurt! You might like the atmosphere there! Remember to make a reservation before popping by, you won’t want to wait for too long, dampening your mood!

Cheers to the three of us finally meeting up! It’s nice having brunch and chatting away on a weekend, nothing to worry about!

Muthu, Ah Hung & Rochor

Standard

To the CYA 5th batch peers who were more than willing to start off with…

Muthu’s Curry at Race Course Lane (Farrer Park MRT Exit F)

I quite like Muthu’s Curry and this shall be yet another to-go restaurant for the curry-lovers! The free flow of papadum and vegetables, choice of Masala Chicken? Tandoori Chicken? Butter Chicken? The best of it our dearest Curry Fishhead! Service is quite fast and efficient, 15% off for AMEX cardholders so that makes it a yes yes for me and maybe you!

then move on to Ah Hung Durian at Geylang Lorong 13 in 3 cabs,

finally walked a super duper long way for Rochor Beancurd along Geylang as well.

Stomach was too full, guess we could even curb hunger for 2 days at least.

We are such foodiefreaks! So tell me, what’s next?
